2. Minutes of the 59 & 60 Annual General Meeting held on 27 March 2021
by Zoom.
The Minutes had been made available to members. Acceptance of the
minutes was proposed by Tony Smee and seconded by Nick Ingram. The
members accepted them as a true record of that meeting by a show of
hands.
3. UK Folkboat Association AGM Chairman’s Report
This time last year our AGM was held on Zoom as we were still in lockdown.
Now we are cautiously able to be together but we have to all learn to adjust
to the new covid world we live in.
Your committee have been busy this year, more meetings than ever, looking
ahead and thanks to the use of zoom we have been able to have more short
meetings and also spend time looking to the future. We realised that if we
want people to volunteer and commit to working on the committee there
needs to be a fixed period. This, hopefully, should attract more people to
take up positions as they know it is not for life! And we have some vacancies!
This year stepping up to join the committee have been Kim Morley, class
captain, from Hamble, the Sowry’s as new class captains of the Lymington
fleet, Claire Locke from Yarmouth, Stephen Mead, classic cruisers and Simon
Osgood who is also the secretary of NIFA.
I’d like to thank all the committee as they have worked really hard and in
particular Chris Baldwin and his team for their work on the Sessan cup and of
course the rest of his team that will make sure that this European event will
be run professionally.
Thanks also to John Whyte (Captain of the Lymington Fleet), Stuart Watson
long standing member of the Committee and Philip Jenkins (Captain of the
Cruiser/British FB Fleet) who have now stepped down.
The sailing season got off to an uncertain future but finally, as Covid
rules relaxed, we got back to three up and spinnakers. Folkboat week
