To the Rescue!
In 2020 the Association advertised a British Folkboat on the website on behalf of the
Royal Forth Yacht Club. A brave man bought “Sorley” FB469 for a £1, sight unseen,
except for a couple of photographs, and then had to get her home to West Wales.
That of course was just the start, we have heard from David that the restoration is
going well but as anyone who owns or has owned a wooden boat it is never as simple
as you think it ought to be.
David has sent us some photographs to wet our appetite for the article he has
promised for next year’s Yearbook when he hopes ‘Merlin’ (‘Sorley’ has gone back to
her original name) will be ready to take to the water again.

Now being restored, all side decks, stern deck and interior removed. The top of the transom
will be removed and replaced.
