Friday gave us more 11 knots northerly winds for the Christchurch ledge race and the
Start was a downwind Spinnaker run out to Hurst Castle against the tide. However, it
                                                        was short livid and had
dropped away to 5 knots by
                                                        11am. This turned Hurst
                                                        castle point turned into a
                                                        car, well boat, park. Some
                                                        of the fleet had close
                                                        encounters due to the
                                                        swirling tide rips and the
                                                        dying wind resulting in
                                                        some early retirements.
However, it then steadily built up to give a good end to a long day.

Saturday yet again produced a steady 9/11 knots North Easterly and a final “round
the cans” race lasting just on 3 hours.

The evening prize giving had 104 people sitting down to a splendid meal after the
sponsored pre dinner drinks. The weeks overall winners received their hard-won
prizes and as usual this year’s humerus ditty was read out to the merriment of all (The
    Ditty follows this article).

Now just look forward to the 2022 week, 20th-27th August.
