The President Sally Kalis welcomed members. This year is the 80 anniversary
of the launch of the first Nordic Folkboat in April 1942. The International
Committee are co-ordinating celebrations and hope that each member state
will celebrate this. The President hopes that each fleet will dedicate an event
as its own celebration. There is a special logo for the event, which Simon
Osgood displayed.
The President attended a NFIA Zoom meeting. NFIA is promoting more co-
operation between the Folkboat nations and will have a social media link on
their web site. They are also promoting co-operation with the classic boats.
Sally gave the UK Folkboat Week as an example of where this works very
successfully.
Simon Osgood is now the Secretary of NFIA and is dedicated to furthering
international co-operation. He will be happy to co-ordinate any news items.
Chris Baldwick has been researching the success of Folkboats at the Round
the Island Race. There have been 5 Nordic winners of the Roman Bowl and 11
Folkboat winners since 1931. This will be in the sailing press very soon.
The Committee has achieved much over the last couple of years, rewriting
both the Rules and the Constitution. There is a new logo for the Association
and the new web site will come on line soon. The Association has also been
given permission to run the Sessan Cup but more on that later.
