presented the trophy to Simon during the year. He gets to hang on for an extra year.!
Congratulations to Simon.
Who knows exactly what will happen next and will we get yet another change of
plans.
Let us all hope for a very special 2021 with sunshine, moderate winds and close
competitive sailing and some safe fun social activities.
So on with Agenda. Now in order!

3. Minutes of the 58 Annual General Meeting held on 16th March 2019
The Minutes had been made available to members. Acceptance of the minutes was
proposed by David Gredley and seconded by Stephen Mead. The members accepted
them as a true record of that meeting by a show of hands.
4. Secretary’s report
We have all had two completely different years, I think, 2019 was a busy year both on
and off the water. Several boats changed hands at the beginning of the 2019 season.
However, the number of Nordics is pretty static, with no boats being built and the
economics of importing a boat high and difficult due to Brexit and exchange rates.
There is a blossoming little group of Nordics in Hamble, let’s hope that this fleet
continues to grow.
Attrition of Classic/British FBs is sadly getting higher as these old ladies are costing
more and more to keep up. I have heard of several boats being destroyed in the last
two years; although with ‘lock down’ in 2020 people started looking for projects
which has meant we have found homes for a couple of boats that are now going to be
renovated.
We have a new partnership with a Yacht Insurance company Pantaenius Sail & Motor
Insurance, who are one of the world’s largest yacht insurers. They are taking the place
of GJW Insurance, who as you can see from the Accounts have stopped paying the
Association commission. The Association still has an arrangement with Noble Marine.
So, I urge members to try both when looking for an insurance quote.
May I remind Nordic owners who race the Measurement Certificates, which have to
be renewed bi-annually need renewing this year on the 1 st of May. Boats that have
changed hands, had substantial work or have a new mast will be required to be
weighed.
