I’d noticed that the rules and regulations needed a rewrite and the National
Committee asked me to come up with a new version. With the invaluable help of
Phillip Jenkins and Chris Baldwick, we produced a new document which has been
approved by the National Committee and in accordance with our Rules of association,
now requires the approval of the membership. The document has been on the
website for a while and I’m happy to take questions and/or comments.
The Nordic Folkboat is an International Class governed by the Nordic Folkboat
International Association. We are only permitted to race Nordics which comply with
the NFIA’s Class Rules and so in our rewritten version, we lean heavily on those rules
and so much of the rewrite refers to the British Folkboat.
Ed Donald said that the guide to tuning that is on our web site is very old and was
written for Saunders Sails. He asked Simon Osgood, being at present the fasted boat
in the fleet it he would share his measurements. Also, the North Sails tuning Guide is
     very good.

     9. Acceptance of The UK Folkboat Rules and Regulations 2021
As posted on the Association web site.
Tony Smee proposed, and Mathew Jones seconded the proposal, and the Rules were
accepted on a show on hands. The Chairman thanked David, Chris and Philip for all
their time and hard work on this matter.

     10. Sessan Cup 2022
Chris Baldwick reported that the UK Association had been given the chance to hold
the Sessan Cup in 2022 This is a 2-boat team competition, fleet racing, with a team
winning the cup. Traditionally run in the Baltic States with teams being allocated
boats. It was decided that this would not work here, so for the 2022 Cup teams will be
invited to bring their own boats. The competition will be run under Nordic rules white
sail only, to be preceded by the UK Nationals both run in Christchurch Bay. The
committee agreed in November 2021 that “As a one off the 2022 Nationals would be
sailed with no spinnakers.” This is to encourage boats from Europe to come and to
give them a full weeks racing. In October 2020 the majority of Committee thought
that in the prevailing circumstances white sail would be recommended for the 2021
season, noting that it had already agreed that the 2022 Nationals would be white sail
only. It was also noted that in November 2020 the Committee acknowledged that this
was not a blanket decision for the 2021 season and that the recommendations would
