     2. UK Folkboat Association AGM Chairman’s Report
The Chairman asked for the Agenda order to be changed, so that the Chairman’s
report came before the Minutes of the last AGM.
     Well, what a year!
     Lockdown.
That has certainly changed life! Zoom is now in everyone life. Not all bad, I’m only
wearing a shirt and tie! And as to what is in my coffee mug is anyone’s guess!
My thanks to all the Committee members-and Nicky for their efforts to grow our class
in whatever way people want to sail and to everyone that is working towards the
exciting Nordic Sessan cup event next year.
Class captains are the vital element that keeps the enthusiasm to keep on turning
outgoing. Although they don’t get the attention that perhaps they deserve but our
Classic sailors get together thanks to Philip Jenkins and Stephen Mead.
Big thanks also to John Whyte Lymington and to Martin Le Gassicke, who sadly passed
away last Sunday night after a long illness. He was always a keen racer and played a
big part in the RSYC apart from giving me tremendous help and support in organising
Folkboat Week. It was only last Friday that Martin said he wanted to pass the job of
Treasurer for Folkboat Week to his wife Helen, who wants to keep in touch with the
Folkboats and Folkboat Week. Perhaps we can just have a silent moment and enjoy
     our personal moments with him.
     On a brighter note,
The Roddie Ainsley International F/B Trophy in 2019 was going to be awarded to
Simon Osgood at our 2020 AGM. Thanks to the generosity of the Sowry’s who kindly

                                                                               53
