YouTube coverage of Danish Nordic racing which shows how deft they are
with the jib stick.
Susan Rutter owner of a British Folkboat has put in a request that the rule
that British Folkboats should have at least one coat of anti-foul be changed,
on environmental grounds. Chris Baldwick suggested that the rule just be
taken out, in line with the Nordic rule. There were no objections to this.
Julian Sowry asked if changing the rudder or the seats on the boat would
require a re-weigh, the Technical Chairman confirmed that it would. Any
material change on a boat that affects the weight triggers a re-weigh. NIFA
Rule 10.
Here’s hoping for a good ‘normal’ season.
11. Up Date of The Nationals and The Sessan Cup 2022.
Chris Baldwick: Chairman Sessan Cup Committee.
Pretty much everything is in place: Dates; venue; organising Club; PRO;
sponsorship of £9500 with another £2000 from the Nordic funds to help
foreign boats with travel expenses. It is the Royal Lymington’s 100
anniversary, and they are fully committed to the Regatta. So far there are
only 7entries, 3 from Denmark. Need 20 entries to break even. Entry is £150
per boat, five days of sailing, the Nationals, a lay day, Sessan Cup, all white
sail in Christchurch Bay weather permitting. Two boat teams, so entries
should state their other team member. Hoping for one maybe two boats
from the USA who will be lent boats. Simon Osgood and Ed Donald thought
that there might be at least 6 boats coming from Europe. Entries are needed
to get a feel for the size of the social events, venues catering etc.
A show of hands of those intending to come to the Sessan Cup was asked for.
9 hands!
NIFA rules will be used. Crew numbers etc.
Sally Kalis gave an appeal on behalf of Claire Sowry for Lymington people
prepared to put up visiting crew to please contact her. There is a dedicated
email address on the Sessan Cup Web site. Sally thanked Claire for all the
work she has done.
