At the start of the fourth and final race of the regatta in very light winds Tak spotted a
large wind shift making it almost impossible to cross the line on Starboard. We made
for the Committee Boat end, tacked on to Port and crossed the line well ahead of
anybody else and in particular our nearest rivals Madelaine , Crackerjack and Padfoot.
We sailed away to win with Crackerjack second and Madelaine third.
It was interesting to have racing in such different and challenging conditions and the
closeness of the fleet made for exciting and classic Folkboat racing. A mere 11 years
later we became national champions again and with the passing of the years I have
been forgiven by the Bride and Groom!
Overall result: 1st Tak, 2nd Madelaine, 3rd Padfoot.
