T
hen Svane sadly lost their boom
Which plunged them into doom and gloom.
And Sally grounded for a while,
But still put on a brave bright smile.
Cream Cracker tore their main apart
And thought they might miss Monday’s start.
But though he saw the mainsail split,
He didn’t even say ‘Oh sh…ugar’
T
he wind calmed down on Monday morning
But Jeremy gave all a warning.
‘The start is both downwind downtide,
So if you’re over - woe betide.
To get back will not be such fun,
You’ll get an on course starting gun’.
We heaved a sigh and gave a cheer,
When Anne Kyle said that we’re all clear.
W
e flew to Christchurch Ledge past Hurst,
A slight back eddy some then cursed.
At North Head 2 boats tacked away-
We thought we won’t see them today.
But in the distance two boats laid it
For Daisy and Good Shepherd made it.
And whats that pink kite - oh what fun,
It’s Pilgrim with a third place gun!
T
he Crews Race had a lovely day,
With blue skies, sunshine- hip hooray!
But then the rules some hadn’t read,
And round a small white buoy were lead.
Sail North OK, but theres no doubt,
Sail South - you’ll be protested out.
A
nd whats that flag on Countdowns rig?
A stripy one thats fairly big.
But Bossa Nova sailing free
Just hadn’t seen it -dearie me.
Dave’s lifejacket was down below.
He should have worn it- didn’t know!
N
ow Samphire Sara, sailing Millie,
Thought this next move very silly.
Valhalla luffed her- then he biffed-
And Sara then got very miffed.
What cheek, he then told her to twiddle
With kite aloft there in the middle.
But Sara knew she’s out of luck
And all the girls screamed out - oh bother!
I
n Tuesday’s race the start was fun,
With kites aloft - down wind we run.
The first mark- we all bunched together-
A good job it was calmer weather.
Again Daisy got clear ahead
And left the other lot for dead.
T
he Wednesday was our sole lay day,
Three boats sailed out to Colwell Bay.
But at the Hut for beer and chips,
They had to take quite slow, small sips.
They didn’t think it was a laugh
At £4.50 for a half!
T
he triangles were pretty scary
With tacks and gybes so really hairy.
The start line saw some jostling bunches
Resulting in some nasty crunches.
But Tony Smee, who sails on Sky
Has toe rail piled to six feet high.
Give him a ring ‘Folkboat UK’
He’ll give you discount here today.
N
ow Samphire, in irons at a buoy
Heard someone yell ‘look out, ahoy’
And then he heard a mighty crack
And Sally landed in his lap!.
