There’s one boat flapping in the mud,
They must have hit it with a thud. ’
twas Njord with tide evading schemes
It didn’t hurt their place it seems.
The lay day was a time for rest,
But one boat had a stringent test,
To Hamble, team Valhalla sail
The evening series they can’t fail.
They finished racing - got the first
Then in the darkness Kim real cursed
Their nav lights which were up the spout,
They had to keep a good look out.
The windward leewards leave me cold,
It’s maybe cos I’m getting old
It’s more sedate though without kites,
And saves us all those downwind fights.
The CRO gave all a warning
‘Don’t dare start o’r the line this morning’,
But half the fleet gave him no heed,
‘A black flag’s what you all must need.
We started well on Columbine
But owe Mi Mi a pint this time.
Those triangles were won by Svane
So Harry’s at the top again.
And David Fox had got a second.
‘I don’t know why’ was what he reckoned.
‘Just lucky in the perfect place
And kept up Bossa Nova’s pace’.
The third race we were going fast
We trucked along so won’t come last.
And sailed that windward mark so high,
We nearly T boned Flutterby.
We hit the buoy and spun around-
Another discard we had found!
The Christchurch ledge race had blue sky
And sun -before the clouds blew nigh.
It wasn’t quite the race we thought
Because it stopped before it aught.
Round North Head two boats took a flyer,
They couldn’t sail that course much higher,
Along Hurst shoreline both gained miles
Mistral and Wombat have great smiles.
