Page 4 - Folk Boat Year Book 2020
P. 4
I had hoped to get this year’s Yearbook to you much before now, however
various circumstances have lengthened the publishing time. I hope there is
something for everyone in here.
As I said last year I am finding it difficult to keep in contact with any
Folkboating activities other than those in the Solent, Poole and Chichester. So I
would really like to hear from members further afield. As it looks as though
sailing is going to be somewhat curtailed this year, especially regattas;
although the Class Chairman is hopeful that Folkboat Week at the end of
August will still go ahead; I am hoping that members will send me accounts of
‘cruising adventures’, ‘renovations under lockdown!’ or anything else
Folkboaty, for next years Yearbook.
If you meet any other Folkboaters please encourage them to become members
and/or send me details of the boat so that we can keep the database up to
date. To that end could I please ask members to inform me of any changes in
their details especially email addresses. Also, when you are able, could boat
owners please send me the hull number of their boat. This is very helpful to
establish the age of a boat and is not recorded on our database at the moment;
owners and names of boats change but the hull number should not!
There is a lot being planned for the Folkboat Association in the coming year or
so, but please tell me if there is an event in your area which should be
promoted on the website. Also do not hesitate to contact me with any
questions or ideas.
I would like to thank our advertisers in this yearbook, Sanders Sails and Whittle
Marine. Lymington Yacht Havens who sponsor Folkboat Week and also
Folkboats UK and Whittle Marine who will be advertising in our new web site.
Happy and successful sailing when it happens again and I hope to meet as
many of you as possible in the not too distant future.
Nicky Henderson
