Hadvaeker Cup Denmark - News from Ed Donald Isobella FGBR808
The Hadvaeker Cup is the first regatta of the season in Denmark, hosted by Jaegerspris Sailing Club, 4/5 May. Attracts the top Danish boats. 8 races, 1 discard. Wind variable F1-F6, E and S and everything in between! Negligible current. Excellent courses, with places being changed every leg to the finish line. Saturday 4th May sea trials for Isobella FGBR 808 and new team (John Wulff helm, Ed mainsheet, Cameron Tweedle jibs/ tactics) coming together. Great BBQ after racing followed by supper and social. Sunday went racing. 7th OA for the event, and but for a man overboard in the last race when in 1st place blowing F6, could have been 4th OA. We recovered to finish the race. Great racing, great social, great fun! Special thanks to the Danish fleet for making us feel so welcome. Next stop RTIR, UK Nationals, Danish Nationals and Gold Cup.🙃
International Paints Poole Regatta 25-27th May 2024 - for Nordic Folkboats
So far we have 3 Nordics entered for this prestigious regatta - and we are looking for more - and indeed to create this as a regular on our racing calenda. This is in line with our ambition to support the development of emerging competitive racing fleets - so for those based in the Solent , Lymington , Yarmouth Hamble and Portsmouth - please take a look and see if you can make it and support Simon Flack is doing a great job promoting Folkboat racing out of Poole. If we can get to 4 we will have OD racing and results. If we get to 6 then will also earn our own start. Racing is over three days. All launching and berthing can be accommodated. Exciting climax to the Lymington Nordic Folkboat Spring Series
Congratulations to Gybe N (Simon Evans / Cy Grisley) for winning the chilly Spring Series 2024. Well done to Crackerjack and Mimi for pushing Gybe N all the way. in an exciting climax to the series , last Sunday saw the last of the spring series with Crackerjack equal on points with Gybe n’ but ahead on count back, so all to play for!! A strong flood tide greeted competitors as the start area and with low temperatures (6 degrees) and a gusty NW wind the numbers were a little light. Only three made the trip out with Crackerjack, Gybe n’ and Mimi braving the weather. Although Claire and Julian Sowry deserve a mention as they have been out on race team duty every weekend of the spring series keep up the Folkboater's end.
