UK Wins the 2024 Folkboat Gold Cup in Halmstad, Sweden
Throughout the week in Halmstad, the weather conditions were tricky, and leading up to Friday's final races, five races had been completed. However, Friday offered excellent conditions with winds around 4-5 m/s. The competition was tight at the top, with only nine points separating first and eighth place. Leading into the final day was UK boat Isobella FGBR808, with John Wulff, Ed Donald andCameron Tweedle , just one point ahead of the second-place contender. When it mattered most, GBR 808 Isobella demonstrated they were worthy winners of the Nordic Folkboat Gold Cup by winning the series' final race. The Swedish team in SWE 1255, helmed by Anders Cederblad, finished second in the race, securing third place overall. Royal Solent Taittinger Regatta 2024
Nineteen Nordic Folkboats competed in this years Royal Solent Yacht Clubs Taittinger Regatta, the second of the Folkboat 2024 Regatta Series. The wind Gods were kind allowing all three races to be completed, even if the wind was a little fickle at times. There was some very close racing however "Crackerjack" had a fine weekend with a 1st, 5th and 1st, 'The Otter" was 2nd and "Jen" 3rd. We are now looking forward to Folkboat Week and the Third and final Regatta in the 2024 Regatta Series.
Isobella GBR808 wins Gold Cup in Halmstad, Sweden
Congratulations to team "Isabella" FGBR 808; John Wulff, Cameron Tweedle and Ed Donald. With very tricky conditions throughout the week "Isobella" won the last on Friday to secure the Gold Cup. Five British boats, Isobella FGBR 808; Double'O' 777; Gybe N FGBR 699; Eala FGBR 754; and Valhalla FGBR624, made the long trek to Haldstad in Sweden to face a fleet of over 50 boat for the Gold Cup, the most prestigious Folkboat regatta.
