Folkboats for Ever!
Hi and a belated Happy New Year to you all!
I hope everybody enjoyed their Christmas festive season and the break from sailing and are now full of enthusiasm for the season ahead! So far, it’s not been very inspiring to do outside work but there is still plenty of time to do all those jobs that you promised yourself at the end of the season!
I’m sure all yacht clubs will by now be close to publishing their own local race programmes, but I just wanted to remind you of two important dates.
First, The Nordic Nationals, which this year are being hosted by The Royal Lymington Yacht Club on the 22/23 June.
Next is Folkboat week which will be held on 18th-23rd August at the Royal Solent Yacht Club, Yarmouth, Isle of wight. If you’ve never been to a Folkboat week then you can read a report on last year’s week on the Association website. Just a reminder that this event is for both the one design Nordics and for Classic designed Folkboats with either in board engines or outboards, all sailing under a handicap system.
Full details and the NOR will be available soon so keep watching the two clubs and the Association websites.
If you trail your boat down to sail in the Solent, then come and launch at Lymington for either of the events. If you do decide to come, please contact me and we can help you with launching, berthing and finding accommodation.
To find out more about last year’s Folkboat week, have a look at the website.
The AGM of the association is on March 16th at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club at 10.30 am. After the meeting there will be the chance to meet other owners and have drinks and a light bite at the club.
Have a good season and just as a reminder, if you do have any questions then do contact Nicky our secretary who will guide you to the right people for answers.
See you on the water,
David Fox, Chair of the Folkboat Association.
